NOTE: for help about the AS/400 version of gzip, please ask

This archive contains two gzip binaries for AS/400: one for OS V3R7,
the other for V4R3.

1) create the SAVF file on the AS/400 with CRTSAVF
2) transfer the file gzip-as400-*.savf to the AS/400
3) use RSTLIB on the SAVF file

GZIP for AS/400 can only compress/uncompress files on IFS.
Do not try to compress/uncompress files in Database
   
Syntax is :

CALL gzip PARM('/home/mysub/myfile') 

will compress myfile file to a myfile.gz in /home/mysub and will delete
the original myfile file. In the end I've got a compressed file
/home/mysub/myfile.gz

If I want to decompress (which must end with .gz):

CALL gzip PARM ('-d' '/home/mysub/myfile2.gz')

will uncompress the file myfile2.gz, create a new file myfile2 and
delete the compressed one. In the end I've got a uncompressed file
/home/mysub/myfile2
